C10 HD ensures that all users are presented with a system that offers them a degree of control and functionality that suits their operational context and skill level, whilst reassuring all users that they will not ‘damage’ the system configuration accidentally. This is achieved through our unique ‘Feature Match’ system where a set of ‘User Passwords’ and administrator defined ‘Presets’ determines the functionality that is presented to the user. A contextual on screen help system provides extensive operator guidance. Operators familiar with the C100 HD will be able to transition smoothly to the C10 HD. There are four operational modes;
Admin – At the highest level the System Administrator has access to all system configuration and operational settings. Administrators configure deep system settings for installation and maintenance and can create ‘Presets’ for other users to access in every day use. There are two types of Preset; ‘Show’ presets include a set of channels with their routing and processing settings for instant recall of a specific show configuration.‘Channel’ presets enable the channel settings for an individual presenter or any other audio source to be saved and recalled from the Preset Library.
Standard – Standard mode provides highly skilled operators with everything they need to run complex shows; they are able to recall and edit Presets created by the System Administrator, changing channel processing, adjusting basic routing and creating additional channels as required.
Preset – Preset mode allows every day users to recall Show Presets and manipulate fader levels to manually run shows. Additional channels can be added and individual Channel Presets recalled to select a typical channel processing configuration to suit the audio source.
Locked – C10 HD is ready for Station Automation. In Lockdown mode almost all features of the control surface are completely locked, leaving the console in a tamper proof state.
Ensuring a smooth transition between network distributed 5.1 and locally produced stereo audio material is a common challenge for regional broadcasters. Our ‘Upmix’ feature automatically creates a 5.1 surround mix from a stereo audio source and makes it available for manipulation. Upmixed 5.1 can easily be downmixed back to stereo, without introducing audible artefacts.
One of the most physically challenging tasks facing a broadcast audio engineer is riding the faders to maintain a smooth, balanced mix in the fast paced environment of a live multi microphone talk show. SSL’s unique ‘Dialogue Automix’ option provides software driven automation of this process. Once a relative level has been set for each mic’, Dialogue Automix eliminates missed upcuts as operators struggle to match the pace of the show.
SSL’s Eyeconix system offers a unique facility to use thumbail images to identify audio sources within the metering display of each channel. Eyeconix provides intuitive ‘at a glance’ identification from a far greater distance than traditional text labelling and transcends language barriers.
Any uncertainty regarding console operation can be quickly resolved using the intuitive on-screen help function: within two button presses, helpful explanations and practical direction can be displayed for any control or function on the console. Multiple languages supported.
Quick routing to all busses is simple and streamlined. The C10 HD features a ‘one touch’ system that creates a Mix Minus Bus with a single button press and provides an extremely simple system for adding and removing audio sources to/from a Buss.
SSL consoles are trusted by audio professionals worldwide to deliver the pristine audio signal path required to meet the demands of HD 5.1 audio. While all six components of a 5.1 stem can always be manipulated individually, they are presented as a single signal on the control surface, making them deceptively easy to handle. The C10’s new, highly innovative stereo-to-5.1 upmix facility ensures sound-field stability during transitions between stereo and 5.1 material, while being fully compatible with stereo and mono downmixes.
With the C10 HD, you can see your entire environment all the time, without the need to constantly scroll through screens or menus. Touchscreen meters provide a constant display of every bus signal, while detailed displays of a wide range or parameters, from signal processing to surround panning, further enhance the ease and precision with which your mix is crafted.
