To promote, support and maintain high quality standards of Solid State Logic, the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of audio equipment.


  • To ensure the quality standards of SSL are maintained in all respects
  • To lead the development of business improvement activities
  • To ensure the effective transition of new products into mainstream production, including the supply chain.

Main Tasks

  • Manage Supply chain quality performance (inbound product quality)
  • Manage Delivered quality performance (outbound product quality)
  • Validate Design capability against expected standards (design product quality)
  • Address customer feedback to ensure improvement across the business and ensure ‘customer focused’ thinking is maintained throughout our organisation
  • Consult and develop novel approaches to support business activities by utilising quality tools, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Facilitate the training and development of staff to support these expectations
  • Identify possible business improvements, including cost reduction and process improvements, and to lead or participate in Continuous Improvement activity, ensuring all processes are documented appropriately

Knowledge and Skills

  • Graduate standard qualifications ideally in an Engineering discipline
  • Proven track record of driving improvement through the supply chain
  • Good understanding of supplier quality management, and the use of appropriate problem solving tools including 8D, cause and effect analysis, Ishikawa
  • Experience of implementing lean methods (5S, DFMEA, PFMEA, Six Sigma, Kaizen) would be advantageous
  • It is important to be computer literate and analytical, with a proven ability to work with statistics and manipulate data in Excel and/or Access
  • Will possess work-based experience in a highly demanding, quality critical environment

Person specification

  • High level of technical competence coupled with strong problem solving skills
  • Dynamic, proactive attitude with strong influencing and relationship management skills
  • Comfortable working alone or as part of a team, with excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Good planning & organisational skills

The successful candidate should expect to visit suppliers in the UK, Europe and occasionally the Far East to audit and build relationships.
