Producer and Engineer Patrik Majer has become the first person in Germany to invest in an AWS 900 console, which he has installed in his studio in Berlin.

Patrik's studios, Freudenhaus Studio is located in the centre of Berlin and has a main control room and programming suite.

Patrik's clients have included Rosenstolz, No Angels, Lemonbanies, Philip Boa and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Patrik is now using his AWS 900 on a number of projects, including the recording of a second album with Echo Award winning act, Wir sind Helden, whose first album he produced in 2003.

Patrik comments on the AWS 900 console at his studios: "The AWS 900 is a marvelous piece of equipment - very sophisticated and a great idea by the people at SSL. I was already familiar with SSL consoles so getting to grips with the AWS 900 was really very easy. I truely believe this is the most modern way to record and I'm delighted with the results I am achieving."

Patrik gives his thoughts on the summing circuitry in the AWS 900: "I recently carried out a number of tests to see whether I achieved a better sound using the external summing amps, rather than mixing with the digital summing amps in Pro ToolsŪ," he explains. "The results were certainly revealing. Using the AWS 900's analogue circuitry it was possible to achieve more transparancy, more depth and much more dynamic range. In my opinion the AWS 900 offers the perfect solution ot this dilema as it allows you to use your favourite DAW for mixing and sum in an analogue way".
