A partnership was recently formed between engineer/producer Tal Herzberg and Henson Recording Studios in Hollywood, CA, to operate the newly designated Studio 'H', built around an AWS 900 console. The console is the controller and audio path for a large Pro Tools® recording and editing system.
Tal Herzberg is a four-time Grammy notinated Producer, Programmer and Engineer, and three-time Mix Magazine TEC awards nominee, who has worked on projects ranging from David Bowie, Phil Collins, Sting and Rod Stuart, to Pink, Missy Elliot, The Calling and Britney Spears, plus many more.
Tal comments about the AWS 900: "I really wanted the room [Studio 'H'] to sonically sizzle and the AWS 900 accomplishes this, while comfortably fitting in the control room. To me, the AWS 900 is the only console produced that would fit the needs for this room" says Tal. "First and foremost, the AWS 900 gives us super high quality analogue summing," Tal explains. "Add to this the SSL-reputable automation, control room facility, EQs, and SuperAnalogue™ mic preamps and you have a winning package."
Ron Rutledge of Henson Recording Studios talks about the new partnership, "Tal is obviously a well know engineer and he has worked at Henson in the past and expressed the desire to work here on a more regular basis. The addition of the AWS 900 is very pleasing to us, as we have a long and positive history with SSL. As Tal will only be working in the room part of the time, the AWS 900 allows us to rent out a high quality room for less dollars, so we anticipate the room will be very active."
Indeed, as soon as the AWS 900 was installed, the room was booked by Hope, a new artist on Virgin Records, for a three-week vocal session, which is being engineered by Greg Collins and produced by Matt Serletic.
