Our UK headquarters is based in Oxfordshire, on the edge of the Cotswolds, close to Blenheim Palace and just 10 minutes from Oxford city centre. With culture, history, technology and countryside nearby, it is a great place to work and enjoy life outside the office.

While we are proud of our Oxfordshire roots, SSL is a global brand, with offices in the USA and partners around the world. This creates opportunities to work internationally, travel or even relocate.

Community Is Key

Making a difference locally and globally is important to our staff and is part of our company ethos. Whether we are baking or running to raise funds for local charities, or ensuring we do our bit to reduce emissions and lessen our environmental impact on the global stage, you will find us taking the lead.

Fundraising

As a company, we are proud to support a range of local charities, bringing colleagues together through everything from bake sales and charity marathons to golf days — and plenty more along the way.

Sobell House Hospice is one of the main charities we fundraise for. Our support has included a lively day of activities, featuring the Crossbar Challenge and a “Name the Dragon” competition, with many SSL employees also taking on the Oxford Half Marathon to help raise further funds.

To celebrate Sobell House Hospice’s 50th anniversary, we took part in a 5–50k sponsored walk, with one employee going the extra mile — quite literally — by completing an impressive 55k.

Keeping it Green

As part of the Audiotonix group, we have a clear charter on ensuring we implement programmes to lessen our impact on the environment. We are always looking at new sustainable ways to improve how we make, package and deliver products, but everyone does their bit across our facilities too.

Changing our gas supplier to renewable energy with zero emissions
Changed all internal lights to LEDs to reduce electricity consumption
Responsible waste management
Recycling of all plastic and cardboard
Removal of all single-use plastics, replacing plastic cups with water bottles
Anti-static bags are all reused instead of going to landfill
Use recyclable paper for all printing
Carpet tiles and kitchen flooring are produced from recycled material
Supporting local ecosystems with wild meadows and habitats
Bird boxes placed around the site to encourage local wildlife

Making It Fun

Being part of a great team is not all about hard work. At SSL, we enjoy bringing people together through a variety of social activities, from keeping fit at lunchtime to giving colleagues the chance to showcase their hidden talents.

Our SSL Summer Fest is a highlight of the year, with staff invited to take to the stage and share their musical skills, either solo or as part of a group. With so many music lovers across the business, it is always a fun event to watch, sing along to.

We also have an onsite gym where colleagues can work out during lunch breaks, while others get together for regular runs. SSL even has its own football team, thanks to the support of The Colin Sanders Fund, which provided goalposts, bibs and balls — and we have been playing every week ever since.
