Junior Buyer

Purchasing Manager
Conditions:

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the job holder has responsibility to manage the procurement and supply of electronic components and associated materials to support production.

Responsibilities

• Ensure components and materials are available to support production requirements whilst maintaining the right balance across MOQ, cost and inventory requirements
• Build and develop robust supply partnerships creating an environment which promotes a proactive and collaborative approach to cost down activities
• Working with suppliers to optimise the use of consignment stock, Kanban or call-off mechanisms to provide a flexible supply chain
• Develop and maintain market awareness for commodity area
• Achieve results by the application of appropriate purchasing techniques
• Build working relationships with other internal departments
• Contribute to the continuous improvement and effective promotion of purchasing department
• Identification of supplier-related continuous improvement opportunities
• Contribute to the successful and timely launch of new products

Skills and Experience

• Preferably two years’ experience in a Purchasing role (ideally involving electronic components) although training will be provided for the right applicant
• Strong negotiation and communication skills would be advantageous
• Experience of low volume manufacturing
• Familiarity of MRP
• Likely to be studying towards CIPS qualification
• Results orientated and uses initiative
• Works well under own initiative when necessary as well as part of a dynamic and enthusiastic team
• Has a proven track record of delivery within a challenging commercial environment
• Possesses an understanding of competitive tendering cycles and modern procurement techniques
• Excellent analytical ability with a strong focus on detail and accuracy
• Ethical with integrity
